Mashed Poetics is a night of spoken word and music mash up where poets create a new piece of work based on a song from a chosen music album. The night of the show a cover band plays the entire album live with poets presenting their new work in between songs. The album for the 2014 Verses Festival is Rage Against the Machine’s first self-titled album from 1992.

2014 marks the 6th year that Mashed Poetics has been running in Vancouver. Mashed Poetics has also been a a part of the 2012 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word and the 2013 Hogan’s Alley Poetry Festival. Poets for the 2014 Verses Festival will be announced one month before the show.
